Background, aim & purpose
Frustrated at seeing the three mini-buses belonging to St Catherine's Church with "down time", St Catherine's Community Transport sought to maximise the use of vehicles available to the community. St Catherine's Community Transport serves the community delivering contracted services for elderly person's Day Care provision; providing a transport service for older and vulnerable members of the community and providing a resource for youth projects. St Catherine's Community Transport also provides local groups, voluntary and community sector organisations and other associated enterprises, with low cost vehicle hire services. Stories of success Helping Olga Olga is a local resident who is able to manage in her own home quite adequately but with poor mobility she is not able to travel without assistance. St Catherine's Community Transport collects Olga her from her home twice a week to use the Campitor Catering Company café. Helping David David used to live in the community but now lives three miles away in sheltered accommodation. St Catherine's Community Transport provides support to David twice a week bringing him in to the St Catherine's Church Centre to meet old friends and neighbours from the community. Examples of services St Catherine's Community Transport has a small fleet of vehicles operated with or without a driver, meeting real needs in communities. From the support of elderly people to young people's work, our transport enterprise provides part of the core infrastructure for our service delivery in support of neighbourhoods and communities.
